Condemned

This painting was inspired by an advertisement for a cowboy hat and a previous painting depicting a mob of masked frontiersmen cutting a rancher’s fence in the early morning. The mood of each was extremely dark and moody. It came together in this depiction of an outlaw, apprehended, hands bound, his mask slipping down his face. The question is whether his hands are folded in front of his face to shield his identity or in prayer for the harsh and swift justice that is coming his way.
