Trouble in El Paso

In 1895 El Paso was the crossroads for cowboys, ranch hands, and gunslingers who stopped in town to drink, visit a brothel, and create mayhem on Utah Street. Sometimes a stop at the photographer’s studio memorialized the night ahead.

These 3-brothers are posed in front of a bullet-riddled Texas flag. Photography studios were common in frontier towns and were visited by those stopping over to honor the success of their travels, often displaying some bravado with their revolvers.
